Dr. Huma Qureshi currently works as a consultant for IG, conducting work related to increasing access to diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C in rural under-served communities of Islamabad. She is a gastroenterologist consultant with a special focus on liver diseases. She has practiced at three private hospitals in Karachi over the last 20 years. Dr. Qureshi has 140 research publications to her credit. For her research contributions, she was decorated with “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” and awarded an honorary Fellowship from Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
Additionally, she is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association and Editor of the Pakistan Journal of Medical Research. In 2008, she conducted a National Survey on Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C prevalence in the General Population of Pakistan. She is also the Program Coordinator from the Government of Pakistan on the WHO Collaborative Cancer Control Program and Health Research. Currently, she is the Executive Director of the Pakistan Medical Research Council in Islamabad. She has conducted national surveys and written reports on topics such as the prevalence of Hepatitis B and C in Pakistan (2009), Polio Seroprevalence Survey in Pakistan (2011), as well as a Malaria Indicator Survey (2013).
