Hassan Mahmood, MD, MPH

Dr. Hassan Mahmood is a medical doctor and public health professional, who completed his MBBS from Pakistan and Master of Public Health (MPH) from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. He has a strong background in project management, service delivery, public health research, and public health policy advocacy. Based on different public health projects, Dr. Mahmood has publications in peer reviewed national and international journals.

Dr. Mahmood has diverse experience in hospital management, project planning, project implementation and research-based advocacy at the National, Provincial and District levels. He has been working in close collaboration with National and Provincial Health Departments to implement different public health projects/campaigns all over the country. These projects include hepatitis prevention and control, tobacco control, Tuberculosis (TB) control, HIV/AIDS control, infection control, injection safety, maternal newborn, and neonatal child health (MNCH), cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and diabetes prevention and control.

He is actively involved in monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects, conducting training for master trainers, capacity building of the staff, development of monitoring tools and establishment of monitoring mechanism in many districts. He has conducted capacity building and training sessions of health care providers, government health officials, lawyers, and media persons on different public health related issues. He has conducted and executed public health research (e.g. conducting and coordinating community–based research trials – mostly randomized controlled trials), surveys, data collection and statistical analysis of the data.
