As part of ongoing collaborations in Uzbekistan, Integral Global Health (IGH) is supporting the capacity building of national and regional epidemiologists, laboratory professionals, and specialists at the National Influenza Laboratory (NIL) to strengthen the quality of the sentinel surveillance of respiratory diseases.
To support the strength of sentinel surveillance procedures, IGH will facilitate a two-day orientation session for project staff, including national and regional epidemiologists and laboratory professionals. This training will cover key methodologies, standard operating procedures, and data analysis techniques essential for effective surveillance. Additionally, at least three specialists from NIL will receive hands-on training in sequencing. A detailed report will be prepared to document the training outcomes, challenges identified, and recommendations for future improvements.
In addition to surveillance training, IGH will support the strengthening of laboratory quality management systems (QMSs) by assessing the training needs of NIL staff related to ISO15189 accreditation. Personnel will be trained in essential QMS skills based on their specific roles, ensuring they are well-equipped to maintain high-quality laboratory operations. To maintain these improvements and adherence to the ISO15189 framework, a QMS sustainability plan for knowledge transfer will be developed in collaboration with NIL management. Continuous monitoring and evaluation will also be conducted to ensure adherence to quality management standards.
