Integral Global Health (IGH) is partnering with the U.S. CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection (CDC/DGHP) and Uzbekistan’s Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (CSEWPH) to better incorporate the One Health approach into national public health objectives and capabilities.
Increasing Regional Capacity in the Response and Control of Public Health Emergencies
IGH will facilitate the implementation of a 5-day rapid response training for 30 emergency operations center staff, epidemiologists, emergency medical technicians, and other relevant professionals, including representatives from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, National Veterinary Committee, and Ministry of Ecology and Nature Protection. Through this engagement, IGH will leverage international and in-country expertise to increase knowledge and skills in rapid response techniques (assessments, containment measures, and clinical management of emerging health risks); enhance capacity to detect, investigate, and contain health emergencies; strengthen health system preparedness for future health threats; and improve coordination and collaboration among health and other multi-stakeholder professionals.
Strengthening One Health Surveillance to Support the Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Diseases
IGH will organize Uzbekistan’s 7th One Health Workshop, which will be attended by 30 public health professionals, veterinarians, environmental scientists, policymakers, and academics. Over the course of three days, workshop participants will gain a better understanding of the One Health approach to anti-microbial resistance (AMR); build capacity in One Health surveillance, prevention, and AMR control; and foster collaboration and coordination among human, animal, and environmental health sectors. A key deliverable of this engagement will be a revised national One Health AMR action plan.
